HITEK Electronic Materials Ltd has provided a
custom built services to
the UK Electronics industry since 1985 from its
headquarters in Scunthorpe. Hitek's main products include:
Radar Absorbent Material (RAM), Adhesives,
Thermal Insulators and
HITEK is the UK & Irish Distributor for Emerson and Cuming
Microwave Products, and covers the UK for Emerson and Cuming's
Specialty Polymers and Parker Hannifin plc, Chomerics Europe
Division. HITEK are also the UK mainland Distributor for TECAN's
range of Standard Cans and the TECPACK range of prototyping metal
cans. We also supply adhesives from Permabond, and the Shieldex
range of conductive fabrics, that are used for architectural
shielding as well as clothing, uniforms and fabric enclosures.
As the UK distributor for Emerson and Cuming microwave products,
Hitek brings over 15 years experience to the absorber marketplace.
Microwave Absorbers are being used in many diverse applications
and can be found in telecommunication base stations, mobile
phones, antennas, car radio systems in addition to military and
defence related applications.
Absorbers can be used in a wide range of applications where more
traditional EMC solutions fail microwave absorbers can be
manufactured from a range of foams, or in a flat sheet form from
silicones and urethanes.
Hitek carry extensive stocks of Microwave Absorbers and can
quickly and cost effectively supply die-cut parts to your exact
needs. Parts machined from solid microwave materials such as
EccoStock are also available.
The extensive stock of EccoSorb absorbers is complemented by the
EccoShield range of materials and there are also special Eccobond
adhesives available for bonding the absorbers to metal surfaces.
Fire retardant products are available and materials can be
supplied fully weatherproofed.
From flat sheet absorbers such as the AN range, through to the
complex wide band absorbers, Emerson and Cumming can solve
problems from sub 1Ghz to 40 GHz and beyond. Whether you are
looking to absorb a specific frequency, dampen down a resonating
cavity, or just reduce some eddy currents, there is a solution for
Hitek supplies a range of Adhesives from Emerson & Cuming,
Chomerics and Permabond and Bondmaster. These can be grouped
conveniently into there categories
When considering the use of an adhesive several factors have to be
1) What type of joint is being made: Co-axial, lap or butt joint?
2) What is the joint function?
3) What are the environmental conditions?
4) How long a cure is acceptable?
5) What materials are to be joined?
Answering the above questions will enable you to then narrow down
Below is a brief description of the different types of Adhesives
Anaerobic - These require the presence of a metal surface and the
absence of air. The surfaces must be close fitting.
Cyano Acrylates - These harden in seconds in the presence of
surface moisture and cure extremely rapidly.
Epoxies - Epoxies come in one and two part forms one part epoxies
require heat cure, two part epoxies can be cured at room
UV Cured Adhesives - These are single part materials that cure
when exposed to sources of UV light, cure times of less that 1
second are possible.
Silicones - These comes in one part moisture cure and two part
forms. They generally are used where the flexible nature of the
cured material over a wide temperature range is required.
