Airfield defence is further enhanced by squadrons of the RAuxAF Regiment who are recruited locally and whose role is the ground defence of the airfield and its associated outlying installations.

A RAuxAF Regiment Squadron has an all-up strength of about 120 personnel and costs approximately 500,000 a year to keep in service.
