Protection of our customers’ products from
the potential damage during distribution and storage is one of our most
important design requirements. The use of foam cushioning whether it be
normal, anti-static, flame retardant or chemical resistant all being and
used as an energy absorbing material is the preferred option for
protecting fragile and valuable products.
Depending on the cushioning foam type; non cross linked polyethylene
(EG. Stratocell), closed cell cross linked ethylene copolymer (EG.
Evazote) & polyethylene (EG. Plastozote) and chip foam, we are able to
adopt a variety of methods for conversion, heat bonding, gluing, routing
and die cutting, band sawing. We don’t just limit ourselves in designing
solutions with just one type of foam cushioning, when required we will
utilize the full range available to there best application.

Cushion Foams - Non Cross Linked Polyethylene, Standard & Anti-Static
Polyethylene foams are designed to meet a broad range of protective
packaging requirements from economical, lightweight protection, to
heavy-duty industrial cushioning. They are clean, non abrasive and
provide us as a packaging designer and fabricator with a variety of
creative opportunities, and also are very resilient with quick recovery
from multiple compressions and impacts.
As a high performance cushioning product we are able to provide the same
or better protection using less foam than many alternative packaging
materials. And hence a reduced packaging cost can be achieved – less
foam can result in smaller packs, reducing material and shipping costs,
as well as handling and storage expenses. Other benefits are enhanced
package aesthetics, having a clean, attractive appearance enhances
product and package image. Polyethylene foams are also very easily
recycled.
Sealed Air’s Stratocell & Cellu-Cushion -
Non cross linked polyethylene foam, ideal for packaging applications
requiring interior cushioning protection. Available in a range of
thicknesses from 25mm to 100mm. various grades available to suit all
high performance applications. Standard colour white but also available
in black (limited grades and sizes) and anti-static grades (pink in
colour).
Excellent versatility: can be fabricated using conventional methods and
equipment. This laminates easily with adhesives to corrugated board,
wood, metals or bonds to itself by heat welding or gluing. It is clean,
lightweight, non-abrasive, water resistant, excellent insulation and
totally recyclable.
Standard sheet size for Stratocell is 1200 x
2000mm and available in varying densities 24kg/m³ - 120kg/m³ and grade
types. Other sheet sizes can be obtained but are subject to minimum
quantities.
Stratocell E density 24kg/m³
Stratocell E Anti Static density 24kg/m³
Stratocell S density 30 kg/m³
Stratocell S Anti Static density 30 kg/m³
Cellu-Plank:

Cushion Foams - Closed Cell Cross-Linked
Products are available in special grades
with flame retardant additives (utilised in aerospace industries),
conductive or static dissipative properties (utilised in electronics
manufacturing industries).
Foams are produced in a wide density range from 15kg/m3 (1ls/ft3) up to
120kg/m3 (7.5lbs/ft3)
The unique process of manufacture for these produces foams with
exceptional cell size uniformity, low odour / high purity an outstanding
physical attributes. These foams are produced from a wide range of
polymers, including LDPE, HDPE and PP, as well as EVA copolymers.
Evazote Foam:
Are tougher and more resilient than the Plastozote foams and are mainly
used in a wide range of applications, especially resilient under
repeated impact.
EVAZOTE EV45 CN BLACK; 6MM, 8MM, 9MM, 12MM, 13MM, 30MM, 42MM, 50MM
EVAZOTE EV45 CN SCRIM BLACK; 10MM,12MM, 13MM, 14MM, 16M
Plastozote Foam:
A wide range of polymer combinations is available to give increased
stiffness, improved temperature resistance and improved mould-ability.
PLASTAZOTE LD33 WHITE; 6MM, 20MM, 25MM, 30MM, 40MM, 50MM, 70MM, 75MM,
140MM
PLASTAZOTE LD45 BLACK; 6MM, 12MM, 25MM, 50MM, 75MM,140MM

Cushion Foams - Chip
Chip foam can be made in standard or
combustion-modified locks in densities of 55 - 225kg/m3.
Applications – general cushioning, packaging, sound deadening and can be
moulded.
Cut to bespoke size and converted by die cutting, gluing and band-saw
and drawn from a blank of cubic metres
During manufacture and conversion, small
amounts of scrap material are produced. This scrap can be recycled and
reused to make blocks with durability and resilience. Foam is collected,
granulated and mixed with a binder before transferring to a large mould,
compressing and adding steam to reconstitute the foam into high density
blocks.
