5 Day Advanced Kitchen Fitting Course
 

This course is entirely hands on and you will be taking part throughout the course. At Able Skills we keep our class sizes small to allow everyone the time and space to practice all elements of kitchen fitting.

We ensure that we have the tools and materials readily available to ensure that everyone is constantly involved in this kitchen fitting course.
 

This course has been designed to take you through the entire kitchen fitting process from layout to completion and is suited to those who require complete kitchen fitting knowledge whether you are looking to pursue a career as a kitchen fitter or whether you are looking to fully install your own kitchen.

Day by day we will provide you with step by step tuition and your 5 day course will cover:

• Selecting the right units for a kitchen, reading manufacturers scale drawing and the planning of a basic kitchen layout

• Marking, Setting out and levelling of units to a datum line

• Assembling and Fixing base and wall units

• Practice scribing then cutting of a 45 90 degree masons mitres using a work top jig and router

• Cutting inserts for sink and hobs in worktops.

• Hanging doors and templates for fitting of door furniture.

• Marking, cutting and fixing of cornice pelmet and plinth.

• You will also cover health and safety along with the requirement for Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE), and the building regulations applicable to kitchen fitting in respect of electrics and water.

In addition to this course, if you are looking towards a career in Kitchen Fitting, you may wish to consider our 5 day plumbing course, our 5 day tiling course or our 5 day electrical training to obtain your VRQ for Part P registration. These courses combined will allow you to offer a complete range of Kitchen Fitting services.

2 Day Kitchen Fitting Course

This kitchen fitting course has been designed to provide both the serious DIY'ers and the potential career kitchen fitter with all of the skills necessary to complete the installation of a kitchen from layout through to completion of worktops, plinths, architraves and pelmets.

The course duration is two days (week ends) and covers:

• Tool use and safe working practice:

• Setting out

• Installation of base and wall units

• Levelling both vertically and horizontally across all units

• Cutting and fixing of worktops using a router and worktop jig. Sink and hob holes etc.

• Installation of worktop including fitting of sink and hob.

• Measurement, cutting and fixing of plinths, and pelmets

• Fixing and levelling of doors.

These are hands-on, practical courses, it is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.
