Digby Waller has worked in the defence sector for over twenty five years. Since 2000, he has been a defence consultant specialising in defence economics and the political economy of defence. 

He has worked on a range of projects commissioned by governments, the United Nations, defence companies, defence consultancies, and universities. Typical commissions include defence budget estimates and forecasts, defence industry sector studies, and bespoke projects covering a wide range of military requirements. 

From 1993-2000, he held the appointment of Defence Economist at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London, where he was responsible for the defence statistics and economic analysis published annually in The Military Balance. 

Previously he was a Research Fellow at the Centre for Defence Economics at the University of York. His career in the defence industry began at Westland Helicopters.
