Able Skills provide tiling courses and tiling training, and have been specifically set up to help you learn your chosen skill in a friendly and spacious environment.

This course is designed to give you a good understanding in all areas of tiling whether you are a total beginner or someone who has some knowledge of tiling. No previous experience is necessary in order for you to take part in any of our intensive courses.

In addition, you can opt to spend a further 5 days with us on our Advanced Tiling Course (See below for details)

This tiling course is designed to offer you a good understanding of the practical skills in tiling.

This course can also be covered over 2 consecutive week ends should you have other commitments which prevent you from attending Monday – Friday. Course content remains unaffected by this.

This course includes:

• Setting out your tiling work,

• Explaining all the different adhesives used for different surfaces

• Demonstrating all the tools required.

• Cutting tiles using wet tile cutters, dry tile cutters, tile scribes, tile snips and tile saws.

• Explaining tiling involving Borders, Diamonds and Patterns

• How to cut around windows and reveals

• How to cope with tiling difficult areas such as uneven walls

• How to tile around pipes, angled ceilings and socket areas.

• How to tile work surfaces

• How to tile splash-backs and

• How to tile around boxed in pipes.

All aspects of wall and floor tiling will be covered and both kitchen and bathroom tiling will be taught on this course.

You will work in an area equipped with a full bathroom suite so you will learn how to remove and replace sanitary ware, how to grout and polish and how to use silicone sealants.

We will cover every aspect of tiling, and feel confident that after spending 5 or 10 days with us you will be ready to tackle everyday tiling requirements. Whether you are planning to do your own bathroom/kitchen or someone else’s, we feel this Tiling course will provide you with the confidence you need.

Able Skills Advanced 5 Day Tiling Course

Able skills 5 day Advanced tiling course builds upon the knowledge gained from our first intensive course.

This advanced course will teach you:

• How to cope with more difficult obstacles such as shower attachments

• Tiling behind existing sink pedestals

• Tiling behind radiators and

• Tiling around toilet waste soil pipes.

We will be concentrating on:

• Obtaining more speed and precision incorporating different materials including mosaics.

• We will also tackle more patterns including brickwork pattern

• You will be taught the correct procedure to remove and replace damaged existing tiles with new tiles.

• You will also learn how to estimate tile quantities required for each individual job and

• How to prepare a quote.

• Explain and demonstrate how to lay and fit under-floor heating

You will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout the tiling course. It is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.

Tiling tools and equipment will be fully supplied, explained and demonstrated.

At the end of your tiling course you will receive an Able Skills Certificate of completion and you can also have a portfolio and photographs of the stages of the work you have carried out during the period you have trained with us; this may assist you in gaining employment at a later stage.
