AEI Cables, the leading UK-based specialist cables manufacturer, are pleased to announce a contract for the supply of a range of cables and specialist technical support to both BAE Systems Marine and VT Shipbuilding for two new Type 45 Anti Air Warfare Destroyer warships.

The products, designed by AEI Cables to naval engineering standards (NES), will ensure the effective operation of power, instrumentation and mine-detecting equipment. The new medium voltage elastomeric propulsion cables and low voltage power and control cables have been developed and manufactured by AEI for this application from its Birtley plant in County Durham. These will be supplied direct to BAE Systems Marine in Glasgow and VT Shipbuilding in Portsmouth where the individual blocks for the ships are to be built.
