We are delighted to report another success for AEI, this time it's Cable from our specialist mining range.

In one of the Worlds harshest environments, Europe's most northerly mine (Svea Nord) is owned and operated by SNSG (Store Norske Spitsbergen Grubekompani).

Employing some 40 people underground and 48 surface personnel, the mine has an expected life of 25 years, during which time it is planned to mine a total of 32 million tonnes of coal.

To help achieve these targets, a new tunnel has been constructed through the icy mountainous terrain which will both speed up production and cut trucking costs down the glacier to ships at the harbour.

AEI will be supplying 7KM of Power Distribution Cable and lengths of Telephone and Signalling cable for the new tunnel, plus Elastomeric Trailing Cables for the Coal Face.
