Leading vetronics expert – Dr. Elias Stipidis – to Chair MAE2007

Dr. Elias Stipidis is currently a Senior Lecturer in Electronic Engineering at the Vetronics Research Centre, University of Sussex.

A Chartered Engineer, Business Fellow with the London Technology Network and member of the IET, IEEE, IEICE and BCS, Elias holds both a 1st class honours degree and DPhil in Electronics.

He has been working in Vetronics since 1995 and has a number of publications to his name, including a VSI publication in the Defence Science Journal in April 2006.

In 1998/9 he began a very fruitful collaboration with DERA and then QinetiQ in more specialised VSI research. He went on to found the Vetronics Research Centre at the University of Sussex, the only Academic Centre of Excellence in this subject area in the UK and wider EU, which is recognised and supported by the UK MoD.

Elias has represented UK MoD VSI activities at both international conferences and exhibitions and was invited, in March 2006, to talk at the IET. He is currently an invited member of the FRES Vetronics Rainbow team, a member of the FRES EA-TDP Vetronics Package led by TADL/QinetiQ, a member of the VTID research team led by QinetiQ, and for the last four years has been Vice-Chairman of the MilCAN Working Group and chief editor of MilCAN Matters.
