Battlefield Casualty Evacuation System (BCS)
Telutami Ltd is a British company that specialises in designing
innovative solutions for the defence, rescue and emergency
sectors. For military casevac / medevac requirements, Telutami
have introduced the BCS - Battlefield Casualty Evacuation System,
the world's smallest and lightest fully-integrated emergency
casualty evacuation capability, providing the means to rapidly
evacuate any casualties to the next stage of wound treatment.
With BCS there is no need for bulky stretchers or waiting for
field ambulances to bring the casevac kit forward. It can be
carried easily and used by any medically-trained personnel.
Battlefield Casualty Evacuation System
The
BCS can be carried in a standard Personal Load Carrying Equipment
(PLCE) pouch without space or weight penalty.
Where it is impossible or impracticable for wheeled or tracked
vehicles to pick up casualties, the BCS offers an immediate
emergency method of evacuation.
BCS can be carried with assault teams into the urban environment
and be immediately on hand to assist with casevac.
It is completely self-contained enabling front-line troops to
quickly and safely remove casualties without requiring bulky,
heavy stretchers.
BCS can be supplied in various colours and can be adapted for all
theatres, including hot weather (desert), cold weather (arctic)
and jungle.
Compressible, Lightweight CASEVAC/MEDEVAC System
The
BCS weighs approximately 980g and can be carried in a standard
Personal Load Carrying Equipment (PLCE) utility pouch.
It is made of strong but lightweight rip-stop material that allows
it to be compressed right down to fit into the smallest possible
space for extreme portability.
Telutami’s BCS can also be carried in section first aid kit or a
troop-carrying vehicle as part of its medical equipment.
Special Forces First Aid/Survival Adaptability
The multipurpose design of the BCS can be adapted for special
forces use as part of discrete team or individual first aid and
survival equipment. Specific variants can be designed and supplied
for in-theatre roles. TAG, SWAT and speciality teams can order BCS
in black. The almost-silent material used in manufacture makes it
ideal for covert operations.
Airdrop CASEVAC System
The BCS is lightweight and can be safely and quickly airdropped to
the point where it is needed. Further supplies of BCS can be
supplied through the normal logistic chain.
CASEVAC Capability for Combat Medical Teams
As
part of a standard first aid kit (medics / ambulance vehicles,
troop-carriers, etc.) the BCS ensures that casevac capability is
at the primary location and will contribute to the recovery of the
wounded / injured casualty. Casualties can remain in the BCS until
reaching a medical facility. Medical personnel returning to task
can be given a new BCS as replacement as resupply space
requirement in the logistic chain is minimal.
Disaster Casualty Evacuation
The BCS can be mass-dropped into difficult-to-reach areas where
there are large numbers of injured to remove from danger, i.e.
earthquake, flood, civilian insurrection and will assist with
military-based aid to civilian populations.

Telutami: Winner of the Human Performance & Survivability
category in the 2006
Defence Technology Exchange Innovation Awards!
This prestigious national competition, organised by Shephard, the
DDA and the Daily
Telegraph was aimed at highlighting innovation and technology
transfer across a wide
variety of market disciplines which are adaptable over a number of
defence and
commercial sectors.
Telutami’s innovative and lightweight Emergency Casualty
Evacuation System clearly
impressed the judges and Managing Director Jon Price is delighted
at the award: “We were up against some very tough opposition in
this category,“ he said. “However, the number of high-quality
entries from companies of all sizes made us proud to have done so
well.
It’s also a boost for the skill and capabilities of the
local firms that manufacture our designs for us.
Now we are
looking forward to consolidating our ECS into other Health and
Safety markets as well as to further develop other products that
we are working on, which include emergency hazardous area warning
lights and sensors and an innovative anti-blast
product.”
“Telutami has proven that it can come up with a winning
concept-to-market product that
provides versatile and multi-role capability and points the way in
which the Company is
committed. With new impetus through membership of the embryonic
Defence Innovation
Group and other planned initiatives, the intention is to highlight
Telutami’s ability to design
and provide real innovation for real problems.”
