The absence of protective measures against attacks from chemical, biological or other offensive agents severely limits operational options. This is the case even if the threat is not, in the event, ultimately realised.

Whilst individual protective measures, such as NBC suits, have their part to play, they are of limited use where numbers of service personnel need to operate together for system effectiveness. Nor are they long term solutions to the threat for the individual service personnel as fatigue and impairment to the operation of equipment soon occurs.

COLPRO is the solution to these requirements, and it ensures that:

  • Combat vehicles can be protected against NBC threats
  • Troops can be kept at peak efficiency for extended periods
  • Ships can continue to operate effectively
  • Headquarters can remain in control of their forces.
  • Hospitals can offer unimpaired medical services.
  • Airfields and aircraft can still operate.

The systems must be capable of detecting attacks and countering all likely threats. Collective protection against attack by such chemical, biological and other agents depends upon a mix of:

  • Efficient filtration
  • Guaranteed systems integrity
  • Associated control mechanisms

Filtration systems are designed to actively reduce the threat from agents to acceptable levels within the defined area of' protection. Systems integrity is achieved within a COLPRO system by ensuring the use of efficient seals and the overpressure of the clean area. Active management of all aspects of the COLPRO system is vital to its effectiveness and efficiency.

Existing customers include:

  • Vickers Defence Systems
  • GKN Defence
  • BAE Systems
  • MoD (UK)
  • DoD (USA)
  • Non-NATO Governments

Bioquell Defence is committed to working closely with its customers to achieve the highest standards in equipment design, manufacture and installation. MDH operates quality systems (ISO 900I) throughout all stages of any project, from initial design to final commissioning. Project management ensures the project is tightly controlled through the manufacturing process to final testing and installation. Products include land and sea based NBC filtration systems, crew cooling units and fully integrated NBC systems.

Bioquell Defence is able to work with its clients to engineer the retrofit of the above products.Routine on-site re-validation, testing and maintenance of all NBC systems and crew cooling units can be carried out by the Servicecare, an after sales service and support business that is part of the Kynoch Group Division of Microflow Limited.
