Rubb Building Systems
manufactures prefabricated, portable structures, relocatable buildings, shelters, tents,
Expeditionary Forces Aircraft Shelter Systems, Rapid Environmental Military Shelters, Aircraft and Helicopter
sunshades and custom structures for aircraft, industrial, storage,
marine and military use, as well as many other commercial and industrial
applications.
Rubb is a world leader in
portable structures of all types. We started
making shelters in Norway in 1968 and now have complete engineering,
design and production facilities in Norway, the UK and the USA.
Rubb: Fabric
Buildings, Shelters, Tension Membrane Structures
Called a plasthall, rubbhall, rubb building, or tension membrane
structure, Rubb engineered fabric buildings have stood the test of time
in the most demanding environments around the world. Not to be confused
with tents, tension fabric buildings were originally designed as
temporary structures for the harsh conditions of Northern Europe. Many
Rubb prefabricated buildings have been in service for over 25 years.
Rubb Building Systems Solutions by Sector:
ABOUT RUBB BUILDINGS
Rubb products are supplied in two primary structure types,
Buildings and Shelters. Rubb buildings are always designed
to recognised building code requirements for wind, snow and
seismic loads. While these structures can be readily
relocated, they can also function as permanent structures.
Rubb shelters, with certain exceptions, are not designed to
code standards and are generally considered to be temporary
structures. Whether a Rubb structure is a building or a
shelter it is designed and built to provide long term value
for our customers.
Buildings - Temporary - Relocatable - Multi-Span
Rubb offers several ranges of buildings. The various
designations such as BVE, NV, AVC refer to differing roof
shapes and sidewall configurations. In addition to single
clear span buildings, Rubb also offers multiple span, linked
buildings. These structures can be virtually any width
required and have minimal interior columns as compared to
alternative construction types. Rubb's experience with
multi-span buildings and capability to provide a broad range
of structural configurations, high vertical walls and clear
span widths are unparalleled in our industry.
Shelters - Rapidly Deployable - Military
Rubb shelters are designed for applications requiring
competent, quickly delivered and rapidly erected weather
protection. While military spec shelters such as our RDS and
RES range shelters can be supplied to building code, most
shelter range products are not designed to formal code
standards. For these products, Rubb uses destruction testing
and thirty plus years of field and engineering experience to
design shelters that will withstand all but the worst
weather conditions.
Accessories - Dock Canopies - Tunnels - Covered Ways
Rubb provides a broad range of accessory structures and
systems. Accessory structures include loading dock canopies,
tunnels and covered ways to connect one building to another.
Rubb also provides a variety of door, lighting and climate
control accessory options. In fact, Rubb buildings and
shelters can be fitted with virtually any accessory system
that is available for "traditional" construction.
Structural Integrity - Tension Membrane Structure
Unlike many competitors, who design structures for minimal
loads and adopt a "one size fits all" strategy, Rubb
building type products are designed for the relevant local
building code and with the required code safety factors.
There are substantial differences in the underlying
structural integrity and design detailing of various
products in the marketplace. As one example, many structures
rely on the cladding system for structural support. Rubb's
frame system is independent of the cladding so that
structural safety is not compromised in the event of
cladding damage. We encourage customers to conduct an
independent structural engineering review of building
systems under consideration.
Materials Quality - Heavyweight PVC Coated Polyester
Rubb products are built to provide years of low maintenance
service. Post production hot dip galvanising of welded steel
fabrications to ASTM A-123 provides a corrosion protection
system that is far superior to most paint coatings and to
systems which utilise welded pre-galvanised tubing. Rubb's
galvanising process also has structural benefits in that
both exposed and hidden surfaces are protected from
corrosion.
