Based in the UK, Cobham Antenna Systems, Microwave Antennas design, develop and manufacture antennas within 250MHz and 40GHz, for military, surveillance, satellite and commercial markets. Designs include directional, sector, omni, blade, helix and ultra wideband antennas. They can be mounted or integrated into a wide range of areas such as windows, walls, ceilings, UAVs, helicopters, missiles, vehicles, cameras and satellites.

Applications include COFDM, UWB, EW, WLAN, WiFi, RFID, WiMAX, telemetry, Link16, RFID, TETRA, PMR, data and cellular communication systems.

There are over 1000 antenna designs available that may be customised to meet individual requirements. All antennas are tested throughout design and manufacture to meet quoted specification.

Antenna development projects are undertake. Modelling software supports our development projects and enables us to predict performance of antennas at an early stage. Prototypes of new developments are tested in our on-site anechoic test chamber to ensure specification compliance.

DIRECTIONAL FLAT PANEL ANTENNAS

 

New flat panel COTS antennas for 4.4 to 5.0GHz defence communications.

Two new directional antennas have well defined, low sidelobe patterns for point to point and single hop data links as the subscriber in point to multipoint systems. 20 and 26dBi gain - vertical polarisation – 1 inch/2cm depth.

ULTRA WIDEBAND ANTENNAS

These antennas can be used for ground-based and airborne systems, ECM-IED, ESM and DF, for jamming, high-speed data links, target drones, communication in tunnels, and spectrum monitoring.

Frequency ranges include 0.5 to 3GHz, 1 to 4GHz, 2 to 18GHz and other variables.

ANTENNAS – UAV and UGV  

Antennas are waterproof, rugged, and withstand temperatures of -55° to +60° C.

There are many standard antennas mounted on UAVs that were originally designed for harsh environments such as Grand Prix and rally car racing. Rugged dipole omni antennas, aerodynamic blade antennas with omni or directional patterns and high gain with vertical and circular polarisation have been used for UAV and helicopter applications.

OMNI ANTENNAS - LINK16

Extended performance omni antenna for Link16 ground-based applications (JTRS, MIDS, JTIDS).

Designed for Link16, this extended performance omni antenna can be incorporated in to MIDS (Multifunctional Information Distribution System), JTRS (Joint Tactical Radio System) and JTIDS (Joint Tactical Information Distribution System) for high data rate transmission.


With 7dBi gain, nearly double the range of a system that is constrained by output power.

MILITARY VEHICLE MOUNTED ANTENNAS

Omni antenna for 4.4-5.0GHz Wireless LAN

Omni antennas with 4.4GHz to 5.0GHz are deployed on military vehicles and fixed installations to distribute data through a wireless LAN system.
