Clayton Engineering Limited designs, manufactures and maintains boat launching equipment predominantly for use in rescue situations. It also manufactures specialist winches for use on such equipment and in boat houses as well as non marine environments.

The Company was formed in 1973 to provide a design and development consultancy service. Prototype manufacturing facilities were added to complement the design expertise. In 1976 the company was established on its present site, since when progressive expansion has provided extensive office and workshop facilities, incorporating a proving ground on a 3 hectare (7 acre) site.
