• A400M

  The MoD committed to 25 x Airbus A400M in 2000 to meet the Future Transport Aircraft (FTA) requirement for an air lift capability to replace the remaining Hercules C-130K C1/C3 fleet. The A400 is a collaborative programme involving eight European nations (Germany, France, Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Luxembourg and United Kingdom), procuring a total of over 180 aircraft. • Advanced Short-Range Air-to-Air Missile (ASRAAM)

  The Advanced Short Range Air-to-Air Missile (ASRAAM) is being procured as a replacement for the Sidewinder air-to-air missile. ASRAAM is in service with the RAF Tornado F3 and will be carried by Typhoon. More »

• Aerial Target Systems

  Aerial Target Systems Integrated Project Team (IPT) resides within the Defence Equipment & Support and manages equipment projects from concept to disposal. Aerial Target Systems are UAVs, missiles or projectiles which are designed to emulate Air Warfare threats. They are used for the test and evaluation of AAW systems throughout their life and for operator training by all three Armed Services. More »

• Air Command and Control Systems (ACCS)

  The Air Command and Control Systems IPT is part of the ISTAR Cluster in DE&S at the MOD’s Abbey Wood site in Bristol. It is a through-life IPT, managing systems from concept to disposal. Supporting the UK Air Surveillance Command and Control System (ASCACS), Air Defence Ground Environment and Military Air Traffic Services. More »

• Air Defence and Air Traffic System (ADATS)

  The services provided by the ADATS IPT enable members of the RAF warfare, air traffic and fighter controllers and engineering branches to train and operate collectively in a coherent manner across Defence and provides Military Air Traffic Organisations with a safe, cost effective capability for the controlling of air vehicles. • Air Launched Munitions (ALM)

  The Air Launched Munitions IPT (ALM IPT) is responsible for managing the level of in-service logistics support needed to ensure the operational and airworthiness requirements for air launched munitions and associated equipment within the 3 Services, and, where applicable, other nations. More »

• Airborne Stand-off Radar (ASTOR)

  The Airborne Stand-off Radar (ASTOR) is a new British capability for operations over and around the battlefield. It is to form the UK equivalent to the US E-8 Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS).  More »

• Apache AH MK 1

  The Apache AH Mk1 is based on the Boeing AH-64D Apache Longbow which is used by the US army. The prime contract was placed with Augusta Westland for the supply of 67 aircraft and all role and support equipment to be built to specific UK requirements. More »

• Battlefield Utilities

  Battlefield Utilities (BFU) IPT was formed in February 2008, as part of Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) organisation in accordance with the Defence Acquisition Change Programme (DACP). BFU IPT’s role is to deliver and sustain battlefield utility systems such as Power Generation, Fuel/Water Processing and Fuel Handling Equipment Projects that enable the UK’s military operational capability.
