THE HOUSEHOLD CAVALRY & ROYAL ARMOURED CORPS

FV 107 CVR(T) SCIMITAR

OP TELIC, Near Basra, Iraq, 02/04/2003: 'D' Squadron, the Household Cavalry Regiment, in their Scimitar Armoured Reconnaisance Vehicle (left), hand over their area of resposiblity to the 1st Battalion, the Parachute Regiment, in their Land Rover TUM WMIK (Truck Utility Medium Weapon Mount Installation Kit) Vehicle.

CVR(T) Scimitar is the mainstay reconnaissance vehicle with which all Formation Reconnaissance Regiments are equipped, as well as all Close Reconnaissance Troops and Platoons of Armoured and Mechanised Battlegroups.

The Scimitar is an ideal reconnaissance vehicle, mobile and fast with good communications and excellent viewing equipment. The vehicle’s small size and low ground pressure make it extremely useful where the terrain is hostile and movement difficult.
