The 4th Division has military responsibility for South East England, including Bedfordshire, Essex and Hertfordshire and its headquarters is in Aldershot. It was previously based in Germany until 1992 as an Armoured Division. The Division now has three Brigades under command:

2 (South East) Brigade based in Shorncliffe. This is a light role infantry brigade with battalions based in various locations.

43 (Wessex) Brigade in Exeter

145 (Home Counties) Brigade in Aldershot

Also under command of the Division are the Brunei Garrison and British Gurkhas in Nepal.
