GOTEBORG CLASS

 

HMS Gavle Goteborg Class Corvette

Göteborg class corvette is a class of corvettes in the Royal Swedish Navy, that was built from 1990-1993. Armed with eight RBS-15 anti-ship missiles, torpedoes, one 57mm cannon and one 40mm cannon.

 

The class was meant to search and destroy Soviet submarines and surface ships when it was designed. Today it has also been given the role to act in international crisis. Two ships of the class, the HMS Gävle and HMS Sundsvall, took part in the UN operation off the coast of Lebanon in 2006 and 2007 following the Israeli war against Hezbollah.
